Titanfall 3 still doesn’t exist, Respawn says

This story has been updated to include the latest comment from Respawn.

On a recent stream, Respawn Entertainment’s community coordinator Jason Garza responded to a community member’s request for an update to the Titanfall series. “There’s nothing there,” he said.

“Yeah, it’s a multi-mech game,” he continued. “It’s an old one, back then, when Xbox [One] started for the first time. Don’t get your hopes up, man. I’ve said that before, we just have nothing to do. There is nothing. We have too many other games in the works right now. “

Garza’s tone of voice was one of someone who’d had to answer the same question for a while, with Titanfall fans often asking what’s next for the series as Apex Legends apparently consumed a large part of Respawn’s development resources.

After this quote got widespread in the press, Respawn decided to clarify this via the official Twitter account with a message that only served to clarify a fairly clear situation. “Contrary to what some people say,” the tweet reads, “Titanfall is at the core of our DNA. Who knows what the future will bring …”

Well you know what the future holds, Respawn. These are your games.

The last thing we’d heard before was from a 2020 interview where Respawn boss Vince Zampella told IGN that the studio wasn’t working on a new Titanfall game, but that they liked the franchise in some way would see back someday.

Since at least 2020, Zampella has also been helping EA’s DICE LA studio (now called Ripple Effect) on a brand new project, but remains head of Respawn. Ripple Effect is also working on Battlefield 2042’s Portal Mode, which will allow players to create custom matches that mix up different parts of Battlefield history.

For the past few weeks, Respawn has been fixing server issues with Apex Legends. The original Titanfall has also suffered from server problems for a long time. Respawn also released a patch that fixes a Titanfall 2 exploit that caused the game to crash.

What is filling Respawn’s time, the studio is working on a brand new IP and yet another Star Wars single player game, most likely Jedi: Fallen Order 2, which EA confirmed was the start of a new franchise.

Thank you, PCGamesN.
